C E L L - O - T A P

PLATFORM: Jam-O-Drum, TIME: 1 week, ROLE: Programmer & Game Designer

This is a four player survival game, in which four players each controls a laser beam to protect the cell wandering around the center by killing virus approaching the cell. (And a surprise!)

As a programmer and game designer, I designed and implemented the enemy behavior, enemy movement path, and the time, location, number and type of enemy births.

In the first version of mechanics, the players have to keep tapping the drum pad to remain the length of the laser beam, and the entire enclosed region of two beams cause continuous damage to the virus inside; and the cell at center doesn’t move, hence the paths of virus are predictable. This mechanics turns out requiring too much repeating action, and the effect of the beam is too strong, which makes the game boring easily.

In the second version of mechanics, the cell moves randomly around center, tapping drum pad can adjust the beam to three different length, beam can cause damage to cell, and the player collaboration attack only cause damage to virus in smaller area near the beam intersection.
